Doctors and healthcare professionals need comprehensive management of health information across computerized systems and its secure exchange between consumers, providers, government entities and insurers. Health Information Technicians focus on health care data and the management of health care information resources.

TSTC's associate degree in Health Information Technology is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). This accreditation enables graduates of these programs to take the national exam for obtaining the credentials of a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Earning these credentials improves your career possibilities and increases your salary potential. For those wishing to enter the workforce more quickly or add to an existing knowledge base, TSTC also offers certifications in Medical Information Transcriptionist and Medical Office Specialist. The Abilene program is an online program, while the Harlingen program is taught in a traditional classroom setting.
