The Fort Bend Technical Center opened its doors in August 2002 at 5333 FM 1640 in Richmond . The state-of-the-art, technical facility provides targeted curriculum plans in one of the country's fastest-growing areas.

Texas State Technical College, Wharton County Junior College, the cities of Richmond and Rosenberg, the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, Wharton and Fort Bend counties worked together to open the center. Courses available focus on a variety of certificate and degree programs specifically tailored to meet industry and business needs in the Gulf Coast community.
